JETS TOP STEELERS
Jets d. Steelers 38-32 in Week 1.

JETS OUTLAST STEELERS IN WEEK 1 DEFENSIVE STRUGGLE
Well, folks, this was a game that tested your patience and your faith in offensive football. The Jets managed to escape with a 38-32 victory over Pittsburgh in what can only be described as a defensive showcase gone wrong—or maybe gone right, depending on how you look at it. Both teams came into Week 1 with something to prove, but what we got was a slugfest where points came in bunches and efficiency went out the window.
Here's what stands out to me: both offenses were utterly stymied statistically. Zero total yards for Pittsburgh, zero total yards for New York on the official sheet. That's not a typo—that's a game where the box score looks like a printing error. Yet somehow, somehow, we ended up with 70 combined points. You don't need to be a mathematician to know something unusual happened here, but that's Scheme League football for you. Both of these teams came with their game plans, and neither could establish the kind of systematic drives you're looking for in competitive Madden.
The Jets' offense found ways to punch it in when it mattered, and that's the difference between winning and losing in Week 1. Steelers had their opportunities, but New York's defense—despite what the stat sheet suggests—made enough plays when the lights were brightest. This is the kind of game you learn from fast. Both teams will be hitting the film room hard, because in a competitive league like this, you can't survive on randomness alone.
