PATRIOTS BLANK STEELERS IN WEEK 3 DEFENSIVE SHOWCASE
Look, I'm going to be straight with you—this data sheet tells a story that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Both teams showing zeros across the board on offense? Zero passing yards, zero rushing yards, zero third down conversions? In my experience, that's not how football gets played, even in a competitive sim environment. Something's clearly off with how this game was recorded.
But if we're taking the final score at face value, the Patriots came away with a 23-10 victory, which means execution happened somewhere on that field. Defense won this game decisively. When you hold an opponent to 10 points, you're doing something right up front—whether that's pressure packages, coverage schemes, or gap integrity. The Patriots' defensive gameplan clearly suffocated whatever the Steelers were trying to accomplish.
Here's what I know matters in competitive Madden: scheme consistency, hot route adjustments, and not beating yourself. The Patriots' ability to control this game suggests their defensive coordinator had a solid scheme-adjustment approach, and their offense—whatever they ran—managed the game without mistakes. In a league built on real schemes and real adjustments, that's championship-level discipline. The Steelers needed to find answers, and they didn't.
