SEAHAWKS HOLD OFF BUCCANEERS IN WEEK 5 DEFENSIVE STRUGGLE
Well, folks, this was one of those games where you've got to tip your cap to the defense โ and I mean both of them. The Seahawks walked away with a 31-20 victory, but here's the thing that jumps out at me: neither offense could get anything going. Zero yards passing, zero yards rushing โ that's a stat line you don't see very often in Madden, and it tells me both coordinators were locked in a defensive chess match all afternoon. The Seahawks' defense just had that extra edge when it mattered most, forcing turnovers and keeping the Buccaneers off balance. That's championship-level discipline right there.
Now, here's what I would've done differently if I'm the Buccaneers: you've got to find a way to establish something โ anything โ in the running game early. When both teams are struggling to move the ball, you need to at least get your offense in rhythm with short, underneath stuff to build momentum. The Seahawks' defense was smothering, and credit to them, but the Bucs didn't have the right answer schematically. The Seahawks made their adjustments stick, and that 11-point margin shows they were just a step ahead mentally all day.
This is Scheme League football at its finest โ two teams grinding it out, real schemes, real adjustments. The Seahawks' defensive coordinator earned that W today.
