CHIEFS SLIP PAST JAGUARS IN LOW-SCORING DEFENSIVE BATTLE
Well, folks, this game came down to one thing: execution in the red zone and field position management. Both of these teams had opportunities to put points on the board, but the Chiefs found a way to be just a little bit more efficient when it mattered most. Twenty-three to seventeen—that's a game that gets decided by a handful of plays, and in Scheme League, that's exactly the kind of football we're talking about. Real adjustments. Real consequences.
Here's what I saw: neither offense was able to establish sustained rhythm. The stats are what they are—yards are hard to come by when defenses are dialed in and schemes are clicking. The Chiefs' defense made life difficult for Jacksonville all night long, and that's what you have to do to win these kinds of games. You have to force your opponent to execute in difficult situations, and when they can't quite get over the hump, you take advantage.
The Jaguars had their chances, no doubt about it. This is a game Jacksonville probably runs back a few times in the film room asking themselves: what adjustments do we need to make? The Chiefs showed up with a scheme that worked, they stuck to it, and they got the victory. In a league like this where real owners make real adjustments week to week, that's exactly how championships get built—one tough defensive battle at a time.
